Ian Schneider successfully defends his dissertation!

December 5, 2019 Ian Schneider completed his PhD studies in the Institute for Data, Systems and Society at MIT with the successful defense of his dissertation, titled: “Market Design Opportunities for an Evolving Power System Committee”. Ian was supervised by Prof. Munther Dahleh and Principal Research Scientist Mardavij Roozbehani.

Soon after, Ian has joined Google as a Data Scientist. He will be working on various energy efforts and especially Google’s 24×7 initiative, where he will be able to leverage his energy domains knowledge and deep technical expertise to develop cutting edge energy analytics solutions used for efficient, scalable and carbon-aware management of Google scale energy assets.

As an energy analyst, Ian will be able to collaborate with Google’s Energy and Policy Strategists, Engineers  and Product Managers to adjust Google’s energy systems and practices based on new findings as well as apply his deep understanding of energy systems and market dynamics, optimization and statistical knowledge. He will help define the analytical direction and influence the direction of the associated engineering and infrastructure work.
